Just under a year ago, two Dorchester mums set out to make a pipe-dream a reality – and now Munchkins Play Cafe in Dorchester is about to celebrate its first birthday.

Born of a love of good coffee and cake and a good catch up with friends, Michelle Cheeseman and Mel Ford created Munchkins Play Cafe.

Munchkins has that special feel about it – friendly staff understand their customers’ needs and a well thought-out environment, encourage a happy and supportive atmosphere.

As a parent who has suffered many a manic moment over a mediocre coffee in loud, headache-inducing soft-play areas, it is nice to know that given the chance, children actually play with each other in a constructive and imaginative way.

Everyone is welcome here and you are almost guaranteed to bump into a friend or even make a new one. Nothing is too much trouble for the Munchkins team, and even when the little ones are having one of their finer moments, a knowing look between customers and staff makes this place a cafe with a difference!

The clever ladies at Munchkins are going to make sure that there are plenty of reasons for the bigger ones to be happy there over the summer holidays, so that no matter what age your children are, you will be able to carry on enjoying their hospitality all summer long.

Great for the not so sunny days and also as a shelter for a break from the sun over the hotter parts of those precious sunny days. Munchkins has two play rooms; role play and small world upstairs and ride-ons, construction and physical play downstairs.

There is also a beautiful room hidden away downstairs in the style of a Big Top, where the much-loved Munchkins Tea Parties take place. The owners were delighted to be nominated for a Netmums Party Award recently.

If you would like to celebrate a fantastic first year with the team at Munchkins, they are having a first birthday party in August (date to be announced soon). Join them on Facebook or go online for more information.
