Volunteer Centre Dorset has a wide range of volunteering opportunities throughout the county.

The current programme lists roughly 250 varied opportunities in the environment, sport, healthcare, music, admin, secretarial and others throughout Dorset.

The centre is holding a Volunteer Week from 1-7 June so if you have been toying with the idea of volunteering, this would be a great time to get in touch.

The programme is:

Monday 3 June. The Volunteer Centre extends an open invitation to anyone who has volunteered through the centre to drop in and have a catch-up.

Tuesday 4 June. There will be an information stand in Dorchester on South Street

Thursday 6 June. Volunteering Open Day from 10am-4pm at the Volunteer Centre in Acland Road.

Friday 7 June. The last session of the current run of Art for Wellbeing Workshops. This workshop will be on designing cushion covers. These workshops have been themed and the group is open, with no age limit and for all abilities. It is very informal in a social setting and is a great way to learn a skill, make friends and have fun. The cost is £1 which covers materials plus tea, coffee and biscuits.

There will be a photography competition running throughout the week and the closing date for this is 15 June.

The great thing about volunteering is that you can do as much or as little as your time allows and you always choose something you enjoy doing so helping others becomes a pleasure. It is an excellent way of making friends and learning more about what is going on in your town.
