In preparation for its opening next year, the Shire Hall project is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to provide a friendly welcome to visitors.

There is a variety of roles on offer including:

  • Reception desk and gift shop assistants.
  • Visitor experience assistants.
  • Lifelong learning assistants.

Office support, including business and finance assistants, marketing assistants, fundraising, DIY support and much more.

“These roles will suit you if you are friendly and enthusiastic, enjoy meeting people, are a good communicator, enjoy history and want to help other people to have a great day out,” said Shire Hall learning manager Anne Brown.

As a volunteer at Shire Hall you will receive ongoing training and support, be part of a team of volunteers and staff with regular team meetings, social get-togethers and an annual trip out.

You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills and work towards volunteering accreditation.

There will be other benefits, too, such as a discount in the Shire Hall shop and café.

Volunteers have already started work at Shire Hall, supporting the team in a number of different areas, and enjoying regular meetings and tours of Shire Hall.

“It is an exciting time to join Shire Hall as we near the opening of our new Historic Courthouse Museum,” said Anne. “If you would like to part of this unique opportunity and volunteer at Shire Hall, or would like further information, please get in touch.”

You can reach Anne Brown at or by phoning 01305 252405.
